A simple but must-try appetizer straight from a tapas bistro in sunny Spain.
Pimientos are small green peppers with variable heat.
Their name comes from the town of Pimiento, which is located in the northwestern part of Spain, the Galicia region.
In Bulgaria, pimientos can be easily replaced by our medium-hot rose hips. The variability of the spiciness of the rose hips is the same as that of Spanish peppers and fully corresponds to the image of the dish - Russian roulette.
They say that out of every five peppers, one is hot.
Here is the recipe:
Fry 20 - 30 rose hips under a lid in preheated, high-quality extra virgin olive oil.
When they are almost golden, add coarsely chopped garlic (or crushed scallions with the skins)
After two to three minutes, remove from heat.
Sprinkle generously with coarsely ground sea salt and serve with good bread.
