Moruga Scorpion Chocolate from Chilli Hills
Known as one of the hottest peppers in the world, it originates from the Moruga region of Trinidad and Tobago and belongs to the species Capsicum chinense .
Moruga Scorpion Chocolate has a wrinkled and uneven surface, often with a tail that resembles a scorpion's tail - hence its name. The color can range from green when unripe to bright red or orange when fully ripe.
It reaches 2 million units on the Scoville scale (SHU), making it one of the hottest peppers in the world.
The Moruga Scorpion pepper was awarded the world record for the hottest pepper in 2012, but has been surpassed by other varieties such as the Carolina Reaper in recent years.
