Here's a classic Portuguese shrimp recipe. The preparation method varies slightly depending on the region, but I personally like the one I tried in Sagres the most. I added an extra pinch of chili for a more satisfying experience.
Products:
50 ml olive oil
3-4 cloves of garlic
2 chili peppers (optional)
1 tsp crushed Chilli Hills Birdseye chili peppers
1 1/2 tsp Chilli Hills Smoked Paprika
100 ml dark rum
50 g salted butter
250 g unpeeled raw shrimp
parsley sprig
juice of half a lemon
Method of preparation:
1. Heat a frying pan (with a metal handle) and add olive oil. Fry the chopped garlic, chili peppers, crushed chili peppers, smoked paprika in order and cook until the garlic turns golden.
2. Add the rum and reduce by half over low heat. Add the butter and stir until melted.
3. Add the shrimp, stir the mixture well, add the lemon juice and put them in a hot oven for 6-7 minutes.
4. Remove, season with salt, sprinkle with parsley and serve with nice homemade bread.
